- Collaborate with other members of the Tax Department to implement and maintain effective internal controls over various department functions.
- Support ongoing departmental initiatives to automate processes and tracking mechanisms as required.

Job description

RXR is an active investor in real estate credit, rental housing, commercial property, and property technology through value-added and opportunistic investment strategies.
Role Summary:
The Senior Tax Manager will provide direct support to the Director of Tax to ensure the Company meets its tax filing obligations, with the goal of minimizing the Company’s exposure to taxing authorities. The Senior Tax Manager will also work alongside the Senior Tax Accountant in all aspects and tasks of the tax department. The Senior Tax Manager will support the efforts of the team to ensure that the Company complies with all applicable laws and tax code provisions, particularly related to the Real Estate Investment Trusts that are in the organizational structure. All of this is to be done in a manner consistent with the vision, mission, and values articulated in the Company’s Core Values.
Principle Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Assist with managing the tax compliance process for the complex entity structure within the Company that includes multiple Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), Funds, and other investment vehicles.
• Help determine, in conjunction with outside counsel and service providers, the appropriate structure through which the Company should hold each investment. Assist/Review with tax models by working with the investment team and service provider to find the best tax result for the company and investor(s).
• Perform/review REIT and tax diligence on potential acquisitions as well as handle diligence requests from outside parties related to transactional activities.
• Prepare and assist with creating and monitoring multi-year tax forecasts inclusive of estimating the taxable income of each Fund and determining allocations that flow through to the partners of the Company.
• Work with the finance team on management company forecasts to incorporate into tax projections. Prepare estimated taxable gains or losses on dispositions. Prepare and review quarterly projections for potential NYS PTET payments and other state nonresident withholding payments.
• Read legal documents to understand timing requirements and allocation methodologies, capital accounts, depreciation allocations, review liability allocations, and more.
• Keep track of and coordinate with external tax return preparers the filing obligations of each of the Company’s entities, to ensure that the Company is filing all required tax returns in each applicable jurisdiction including any potential international filings.
• Prepare workpapers, estimates, and other tax reporting deliverables as required as well as review tax workpapers and tax returns prepared by service providers and any prepared in-house. Assist with the computation and review of quarterly tax estimates for taxable entities.
• Maintain compliance with REIT regulations by overseeing quarterly asset tests and annual income tests, review of annual property service questionnaires, REIT checklists, shareholder demand letters, and 1099 reporting.
• Collaborate with other members of the Tax Department to implement and maintain effective internal controls over various department functions.
• Support ongoing departmental initiatives to automate processes and tracking mechanisms as required.
• Assist in various aspects of tax planning and consulting,
• Address diverse tax inquiries from the Company’s investor base and other reporting requirements.
• Aid team members as required to support Tax Department and the Company’s overall objectives.
Preferred Qualifications and Attributes
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent field is required, MS/MBA in Taxation preferred.
• CPA preferred but not required.
• 7-10 years of related accounting experience, preferably in commercial real estate
• Public accounting experience preferred.
• Experience with partnership and REIT taxation issues
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
• Must be intelligent, highly organized, motivated, and a self-starter.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects.
• Personable, able to deal within the framework of a large organization and work with others as a team player.
• Strong analytical skills, with a focus on detail and the ability to deliver an organized work-product.
The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future. When determining a team member's base salary/rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g. location, years of service, specialty, education, relevant experience).
Bonus eligible.
Pay Range
$155,000 — $165,000 USD
